Business Plan Modelling

The Challenge

The client, a European startup, had several new prototypes that had the potential to revolutionize home healthcare but lacked the funding to reach the production stage. They had no in-house finance team, and the CEO, following a referral from a satisfied client, reached out to us to assist with a model build to assess funding requirements and then present to lenders.

The Solution

Limited historical data was available, so we developed revenue projections based on detailed market analysis and expected manufacturing and shipping timelines.

We then analysed R&D expenditure and built out operating, sales, and marketing assumptions.

With the inputs ready, we built a three-statement forecast driven by a P&L with granular, product-level analysis. The entire supply chain was modelled to plan working capital and inventory efficiently. We brought our experience to the project to highlight key areas of interest to lenders and costs that the client had not previously considered. Our work produced a robust model that could output equity and lender case scenarios.

The Outcome

The client CEO found the model helpful in visualizing and amending his plans, consolidating partnerships with academic institutions, and ultimately having a blueprint for the future. The model secured financing and continues to be used to test the financial viability of new products. We were asked to continue supporting the business on an ongoing basis.
